Thanks to his very kind publicist, I have the chance to offer a free copy of his upcoming album to one happy winner!
The album is beautiful, mellow and sweet like the above song (which is one of the tracks); it's the sort of thing you can listen to with your eyes closed, put into your child's lullaby mix, or turn on during a dinner party. He sings mostly in Yolngu Matha, his native language, with a little English thrown in, and backs himself with guitar. And I just love his voice.
Want a copy of the CD? To enter the contest, leave me a comment on this post including:
- your name or some kind of handle by which I can address you if you win (i.e., anything but "Anonymous"), and
- the name of a band or musician you like to listen to. Because I'm curious. :)
You have until Friday morning! Sometime that afternoon, I will go find a Random Number Generator and get it to pick a number between 1 and the number of comments. The winner will then have a few days to email me their address, so be prepared to check back in case you win. (Blogger doesn't give me your contact information.)
Ready... set... go!
Woohoo, I'm the first one! Well, I like to listen to a bunch of music (beatles, keane, beach boys, dixie chicks...). I hope I win!

ReplyDeleteDo I count? :)
Of course you count!
ReplyDeleteThis comment of mine doesn't, though. :)
My perennially favorite recording artist is -- ah -- my brother and sister-in-law, naturally.
ReplyDelete(I was going to say John Michael Talbot there for a moment, but then hastily decided not to let down the team...)
Is it unethical--even if permissible--to enter more than once?

(Well, so much for my ethics...)
Well, it's been awhile since I've posted here, but a contest seems like a good way to get back in the swing of things! As for the music, I'll say Michael Coleman, and Irish fiddler from the early 20th century. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXporuKHns4&feature=related
ReplyDeleteHi Jenna :) I've never posted here before, though I've read your blog since a while back, when I discovered it via The Hogs Head. I also started a blog of my own recently -- it's so young (my blog), that I'm still not sure what it will become. Anyway, this contest seems like a good opportunity to emerge from lurk-dom and say "Hi!"
ReplyDeleteAs for my favorite music, right now it'd be American folk music from the 1940s-50s-60s-70s (lol). Kingston Trio is awesome, as is other cool stuff in the folk genre. Also, anything with a fiddle...
I like this musician's sound (soothing and evocative), so it'd be awesome to win. :)
Me again....Paul Simon!
ReplyDeleteOkay, if I win you can give it to someone else because now I feel bad because I have 3 entries. But, I really, really wanted to list Samarabalouf. They are a WAY cool group that I am listening to right now. Kind of French Gypsy Jazz?
